A Sentence Line is located below the Animation Window and serves in describing the actions of the player. Actions and dialogues are depicted on an Animation Window which covers the top of the screen verbal commands are listed in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, while Inventory items are shown as icons on the lower right-hand corner. LeChuck's Revenge plays like most SCUMM-based point-and-click adventure games. Below the scene, the game displays the list of the verb commands and items in the player's inventory in a point-and-click menu. Return to Monkey Island, which takes place immediately after Monkey Island 2 and is helmed by Gilbert, is planned to be released in 2022. A "Special Edition" remake of Monkey Island 2 was released in 2010, following a similar remake of the first game. Further sequels were developed by other creative teams, who had to deal with the game's ambiguous ending on their own. The game was a critical success, but a commercial disappointment. The project was led by Ron Gilbert, who was again joined by Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman. The development team for Monkey Island 2 was largely the same as for The Secret of Monkey Island. In it, pirate Guybrush Threepwood searches for the legendary treasure of Big Whoop and again faces off against the pirate LeChuck, who is now a zombie.
It was the sixth LucasArts game to use the SCUMM engine, and the first game to use the iMUSE sound system. A sequel to 1990's The Secret of Monkey Island, it is the second game in the Monkey Island series.
